Horse-riding safaris are highly recommended. The animals have been specifically trained for bush out rides. These rides will include an early start followed by a tea/coffee and lunch break. The magnificence of the oneness with nature combined with the ‘Out Of Africa’ feel is a must. The silent approach [on horse back] to the game and birds at the watering holes ensures that one is able to view the animals at close range. A specially camouflaged viewing deck, which is elevated approximately 15meters above the ground, is one of the spots where the horses and riders can have a break. The riders may select this breathtaking view over the bushveld plains with only the silence of nature to be heard.
Game drives, in the 4×4 Landcruiser, is optional during the evenings. If preferred, evening rides on horseback can be arranged.
The beauty of the African sunset cannot be fully described on any web-page. One has to experience this in real life, accompanied by the sounds and smells of the African wild life and plants. It is unique to Africa.
The artists’ brush, in the form of a digital camera, will be the best way of recording the experience. The area is perfect for riding and makes for an exciting experience. Not only will you enjoy the game sightings of giraffe and impala, but also a meandering alongside zebras and wildebeest across the veld – this experience will be remembered for a life time.
All of the horseriding safaris end at the base camp. All the horses have been trained to not be easily-spooked. They are selected particularly based on their temperament. Some of the breeds include the Shire Cross Thoroughbreds and the South African Warmblood. Due to the type of outride and the environment, most of them will be on neck reins whilst riding on the bush. The horses respond well to the riders and handlers. The saddles which are used are of high quality and customised for the purpose of lengthy rides.
Besides the shear enjoyment of sharing the bush with these magnificent beasts you also have the opportunity to take care of the horses. We, as horse-lovers, realize the importance of bonding with the animals.
